This Weekend One Second Longer
Time will stand still for one second Saturday evening as a leap second is added to let the slowpoke Earth catch up to super-accurate clocks. The extra second will occur at 7:59:60 p.m. Eastern time. Saturday will be the 25th time a leap second has been needed since the practice was initiated in 1972.
